Happy 2019 BACKBONES!

As we start this new year with some new programs in the works and three new Board Members, I have been reflecting on the past 10 years. I can hardly believe that it has been ten years since BACKBONES was just an idea! I am really proud of what we have built together – an SCI network nationwide.

If you remember, initially BACKBONES focused on making one-on-one connections between individuals with spinal cord injury. Eventually, we began to host some really fun events and that became a space for people to meet, ask questions, find support and make friends. These opportunities to connect have made a significant impact on many people’s lives – they have learned a skill, found a resource, became motivated to pursue something meaningful to them, and many more stories… that makes me so happy!

Looking forward I am excited to implement a couple new programs- Stay tuned:

1. BACKBONES PeerConnect: Monthly Online SCI Events for up to 10 people to socialize and meet via a video conferencing platform
2. Expanding our Ambassador Program and Leadership Development
