Motherhood can encompass a wide variety of realities, but women with spinal cord injury and disease experience unique challenges and concerns on the journey to motherhood. Join us for a conversation, with a few mothers with SCI/D to learn about the positive aspects of parenting and in turn, navigate the difficulties. Explore motherhood in various ways, such as through surrogacy, adoption, fostering, and natural birth, and leave this event with resources and opportunities to connect with other new mothers. We hope you’ll join us for an amazing insight into the Pathways to Motherhood!
SPECIAL GUESTS: Jen Goodwin and Rachelle Chapman
Jen Goodwin is a mom of two active boys, a disability rights attorney and a person with a C5/6 spinal cord injury. She pursued her law degree, post injury when she decided to change her career path. She decided she wanted to be a mom, even as a single, quadriplegic, in law school and took an alternative path to make that a reality. She always wanted her son to have a sibling, so she adopted a baby boy last year. Now, she loves advocating to help other people get back to their lives and spending as much time with her boys as possible. They love to travel and explore outside.
Rachelle Chapman became paralyzed after a 2010 accident where her best friend playfully pushed her into a pool during her bachelorette party. She is now a blogger and social media influencer on a mission to break stereotypes and educate others about spinal cord injuries. She loves playing wheelchair rugby and spending time with her husband and 7 year-old daughter.
