Unbroken: CALL FOR ARTISTS
CALL FOR ARTISTS
September 2016 • CHICAGO, IL
Art shapes our ideas of who we are as individuals and influences who we are as members of society. Unbroken includes voices of artists with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and celebrates their contributions, talent, creativity and personal stories.
This visual storytelling is a glimpse of the accomplishments, pain, happiness, loss, and beauty of a few individuals with spinal cord injury and paralysis. The goal is to create a space that will encourage dialogue and learning in addition to empowering the artists through their work.
During the month of September, BACKBONES will host an art exhibition at the Bridgeport Arts Center in Chicago, IL featuring artists with spinal cord (Opening Reception September 9, 2016). The show celebrates Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Awareness Month by highlighting the talents of those with SCI and raising awareness.
BACKBONES is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, that exists to help people with spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D) and their families connect with their communities. We do that by creating events and experiences that promote awareness and engage people of all abilities.
