Mouth Painting Demo & Painting Party

September 24th : 1:30- 4:30pm Bridgeport Art Center 1200 W 35th St, Chicago, Illinois 60609 3rd Floor Gallery (East Sculpture Garden Entrance) (Complimentary Parking) Watch artists and mouth painters, Mariam Pare and Jesse Cuellar, demonstrate how they paint with their mouths and the tools they have adapted to paint after their spinal cord injury and paralysis! There will be opportunity for you to try mouth painting and take home your own canvas! Bring the family! Mariam Paré is a professional artist and designer. At the age of twenty, she was shot in her back and sustained a C6 spinal cord injury rendering her quadriplegic. Mariam has now dedicated her life to art and advocacy. She is a 10 year member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, and travels for the MFPA several times a year doing public mouth-painting demonstrations, using her art to to promote disability awareness. www.mariampare.com Jesse Cuellar, St. Louis artist, painted murals and graffiti prior to a fall in March 2010 and becoming paralyzed from the chest down. He has since relearned to create his signature style using his mouth, special mouthstick paintbrushes and a Quantum iLevel wheelchair that raises him for better range and reach to the canvas.
