PeerConnect: Self Defense & Personal Safety for Wheelchair Users

In this session, we’ll share practical and effective self-defense techniques for the unique challenges faced by wheelchair users. Led by experienced self-defense instructors and disability advocates, this event aims to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to assert their personal safety and security.

Bill Fertig
Bill Fertig is a wheelchair user and former police officer, training sergeant and 911 dispatcher. He has experience as a defense tactics and firearms instructor.
Erik Kondo
Erik Kondo has a background in a variety of martial arts as a wheelchair user. He focuses his trainings on conflict management as an extension of personal safety.
Laurie Wood
Laurie Wood is an 18-year Navy Veteran. She has experience as a hostage/crisis negotiator and emergency response team. Laurie was on he women's Sled Hockey team for three years.
