How did you get injured? Dirt bike / motorcycle
Where do you live? San Luis Obispo California
What were some things that helped you maintain the sense of adventure? It’s just part of who I am. Two years after my injury I was evaluated for hand controls/driving which brought a lot of autonomy. Also being able to drive around in my truck, go on trips with my kids and mob at the beach gave me a lot of freedom, and brought back the sense of adventure!
How would you describe yourself in one word and why? Persevering because no matter what challenges come my way I will do my best to overcome those challenges with a positive perspective.
What skill would you most like to learn? A skill that I’m constantly working on is the ability to focus on one task at hand.
What do you like to do for fun? Adventure, play, make people smile, sex and to just be me.
What’s the most daring thing that you’ve ever done? That’s probably on the do not talk about list somewhere.
What is one of the biggest lessons you have learned from your disability? “it is what it is”
What advice would you give to someone with a sci looking to explore being more active & adventurous? Just get out there! Leave the voice in your head behind! Stay strong You can do more than you think.
What is your proudest accomplishment? Raising two amazing grown boy’s. Both are so capable, intelligent and strong. I did that!!!
What led you to start your nonprofit Positive Ride? I saw a need for more people with disabilities both on the central coast as well as visitors to get out and enjoy life.
What’s next for you personally and for Positive Ride? Planning on growing the business and reaching as many people as possible through fun and accessible adventures! Also We have future plans on some large scale adventures along with a documentary.
