Introducing PeerConnect!

Coming this spring…PeerConnect!

In a time in where hospital and rehabilitation visits are becoming increasingly shorter, individuals with spinal cord injury are relying more and more on the knowledge of their peers when learning to navigate SCI life.

We are thrilled to announce BACKBONES PeerConnect, monthly online meetups for people in the spinal cord injury and disease (SCI/D) community looking to connect with their peers! Whether you have many years post-injury, or if you are new to the community, PeerConnect is a great way to meet others, share your story, and learn from other people with similar experiences to you.

These online events will be hosted on Zoom Video Conferencing and are a chance for open conversation and opportunity to discuss a variety of topics from transportation, work and social life to insurance, adaptive sports, and traveling. We’ll even have opportunities for you to ask questions and pick the topics prior, so you can get the answers to the questions you’ve been looking for.

Ultimately, our aim is to relieve feelings of isolation among individuals with spinal cord injuries or disease and together motivate each other to pursue our personal and professional goals. If you’re looking for some support, advice, or just trying to meet some cool new people, we hope you’ll choose to take part in BACKBONES PeerConnect!

Please keep me posted on PeerConnect!

I have always tried to mentor others with sci like me. But lately, I find it rather difficult to leave the house. So I would like to connect with others, particularly here in Houston who are recovering perhaps by using FaceTime or Skype. Since I have been paralyzed 55 years, I have a lot of experience as my condition gradually gets worse.
